Holgeth Art is a collection of non-figurative paintings, produced in response to the emotive influences of light and the spatial relationships within coastal and rural settings.

The creation of each painting is intuitive; through the use of a restricted palette of oil paint, and a process of continual exploration with layers of colour and textural mark making. Memories of a place, a sketch made, or photograph taken, all provide inspiration.

After spending many studio hours and studying the composition and colour balance, I once again hear the intuitive voice telling me that the painting is finished, as if it reveals its identity. I have come to understand that a finished painting is never an end, each artwork’s destination it just one part of a continuous creative journey.

I’m forever wondering where my intuition will take me next.
